Budget Billing
It’s common to see electric bills increase during periods of high and low temperatures, typically occurring in mid-summer and mid-winter. Consumers can avoid these seasonal fluctuations in their electric bill by signing up for Budget Billing.
How it works
Budget Billing is an installment payment plan that has 11 "budget" months and one "settlement" month. During the budget months, payments will be a pre-determined amount that are calculated based on the consumption of the prior 12 months; in the case of a newly constructed service, the consumption will be estimated by the Association.
Changes in the cost of electricity, lifestyle and weather have a direct affect on electric usage, but cannot be predetermined by the Association. To compensate for these variations, the Association will complete periodic reviews of Budget Billing accounts. If adjustments are necessary, the account holder will be contacted regarding a newly calculated payment. This helps to avoid an excessively large settlement amount in the twelfth month.
Eligibility
To qualify for Budget Billing, you must be a residential consumer and your account must have a zero or credit balance.

If you would like to sign up for Budget Billing, please call IREA's Sedalia Headquarters at 303-688-3100 or toll free at 1-800-332-9540. Once an installment payment plan is determined and agreed upon, Budget Billing will begin in the next normal billing cycle. This agreement will remain in effect during a 12 month period unless the Association receives written notice from the consumer requesting termination of the plan or termination of service, or payment is not received by the normal due date.
