Net Metering
In accordance with Colorado House Bill 02-1415, IREA has a Net Metering rate for customers who produce their own renewable energy from solar, wind, hydro, or biomass.
The customer's intention must be to offset all or part of his/her electric energy requirements, and the generating facility must be located at the same site where the customer has electric service. Certain guidelines for interconnection must be adhered to in order to maintain safety and quality of service to the other members of IREA. The Association will purchase the kWh output from the producer at the average wholesale cost of power for the preceding calendar year. The customer-generator will be responsible for the difference in cost of any additional metering that is necessary for reading energy consumed by the customer and energy returned to the system.
More information regarding energy conservation, net metering and renewable energy resources can be obtained from IREA's Energy Conservation Specialist @ 303-688-3100 ext. 336.
