The Global Warming Debate
We are not in climate crisis by Dr. William Gray, professor emeritus of atmospheric science at Colorado State University. "Implementation of the cap-and-trade carbon dioxide policies presently before Congress on greenhouse gas reductions would lead to a substantial slowdown in the world’s economic development and, at the same time, have no significant impact on the globe’s future temperature."
"The renewable energy sources of wind, solar, hydro, etc. are too expensive and will never be able to adequately replace fossil fuels in the coming decades. The global climate is not in crisis as Al Gore and so many others of his like-minded associates have repeatedly stressed. The evidence presented by the global warming advocates has many flaws. There has not yet been an open and fair scientific dialogue on this topic." (read more)
Not Evil Just Wrong, a film by Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney, is a feature length documentary which shows how extreme environmentalism is damaging the lives of vulnerable people, from the ban on DDT to the campaigns on Global Warming.
Unstoppable Solar Cycles (YouTube video about climate change) This video explains "how humans cope with natural changes in the climate system," and the profound effects of the Sun on global warming.
The Year of Global Cooling (The Washington Times, 12/24/07) by David Deming, a geophysicist, an adjunct scholar with the National Center for Policy Analysis, and associate professor of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma. "Al Gore says global warming is a planetary emergency. It is difficult to see how this can be so when record low temperatures are being set all over the world. In 2007, hundreds of people died, not from global warming, but from cold weather hazards."
"Since the mid-19th century, the mean global temperature has increased by 0.7 degrees Celsius. This slight warming is not unusual, and lies well within the range of natural variation. Carbon dioxide continues to build in the atmosphere, but the mean planetary temperature hasn't increased significantly for nearly nine years. Antarctica is getting colder. . ." (read more)
Global Warming from a Critical Perspective, by Laurence I. Gould from the American Physical Society's New England Section Newsletter, Fall 2007. (This document contains links to many articles, videos and reference materials.) "Although I have seen many articles arguing for the reality and danger of anthropogenic greenhouse warming (AGW), I have rarely seen one that presents scientific arguments against the AGW claims; the salient exception being a Letter in Physics Today (March 2007, p. 14) by Petr Chylek of Los Alamos National Laboratory, wherein he mentions a distortion, by an editor of Nature, who changed the title and thus altered the meaning of a colleague’s paper that was submitted for publication."
"A few examples of the one-sided presentation, giving only the case for AGW, come to mind from the pages of the APS News. In the April 2006 issue there is an attack, by James Hansen, on the “Scientific Method” of Michael Crichton (and also, on Pat Michaels). Hansen argues that both Crichton (and Michaels) are treading close to “scientific fraud.” What is disturbing about Hansen’s article is that he gives no explicit references to works by Crichton or by Michaels to substantiate the accusations he makes against them. And even more disturbing is that I have seen no reply in the APS News from either Crichton or from Michaels. "
Time for Change? Climate conference should find a new song (Colorado Springs Gazette, 12/3/07) "Another U.N. conference began Monday in Bali to contrive another worldwide governmental “solution” for global warming. Beware when government wants to help. Be frightened when it’s a bunch of governments. Most will assume as true the fourth Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change scare story that human-induced global warming is a certainty and poses catastrophic consequences — unless governments do something."
"Never mind that the IPCC watered down its even scarier previous report from 2001. Instead of computer predictions of 35-inch sea-level rises, the latest report says only 17 inches. Rather than 2.5 to 10.4-degree temperature increases, computers now say 3.2 to 7.2 degrees. . . ."
Science shows fallacy of global warming hysteria by Andres Pico "With the recent joint award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Al Gore, the global warming hysterics have risen to a new, fever-pitch level. When a few editorials dare to raise a question on the so-called consensus the denunciations reach new levels of nonsense and balderdash in a blatant and immoral attempt to suppress dissent.
2007: Global Warming Alarmist reaches a "Tipping Point" by
Senator James Inhofe. A speech delivered on October 26, 2007. Excerpt: The
American people will soon be asked to support global warming cap-and-trade
legislation that will be billed as a "solution" to global warming. These bills
come at a time when the science is overwhelmingly taking away the basis for
alarm. An abundance of new peer-reviewed studies, analyses, and data error
discoveries in the last several months has prompted scientists to declare that
fear of catastrophic man-made global warming "bites the dust" and the scientific
underpinnings for alarm are "falling apart."
On ABC's 20/20 host John Stossel challenges conventional views of
global warming in "Man
Vs. Nature" broadcast on October 19, 2007. The video is
available on YouTube. "The globe is warming, it's our fault and the consequences
are going to be terrible. So goes the rhetoric spouted by politicians,
celebrities and the media. It's hard to turn on the TV or open a
newspaper these days without hearing about the horrors caused by
our warming climate. We can expect more floods, droughts, hurricanes
and tornadoes as global warming continues, and pretty soon we'll
have to flee from the coasts as the polar ice caps melt and our shorelines
flood. ... But is it a crisis? The globe is warming, but is it really
all our fault? And is it true the debate is over? No. What you think
you know may not be so. "
Environmental
Effects of Increased Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide (PDF
2.5MB) A review of the research literature concerning the environmental
consequences of increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide
leads to the conclusion that increases during the 20th Century
have produced no deleterious effects upon global weather, climate,
or temperature. Increased carbon dioxide has, however, markedly
increased plant growth rates. Predictions of harmful climatic
effects due to future increases in minor greenhouse gases like
CO2 are in error and do not conform to current experimental knowledge.
At the Petition
Project web site, 19,000 scientists have signed a petition stating "There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release
of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing
or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of
the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover,
there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric
carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant
and animal environments of the Earth."

"Friends

run by dedicated volunteers comprised mainly of active and retired earth

about global warming.
UK Documentary: The Great Global Warming Swindle
"According to a group of scientists brought together by documentary-maker Martin Durkin, if the planet is heating up, it isn't your fault and there's nothing you can do about it. We've almost begun to take it for granted that climate change is man-made phenomenon. But just as the environmental lobby think they've got our attention, a group of naysayers have emerged to slay the whole premise of global warming."
This BBC documentary goes into some of the many factors that have caused the earth to warm and cool for centuries, including changes in activities on the sun, 93 million miles away and wholly beyond the jurisdiction of the Kyoto treaty. According to these climate scientists, human activities have very little effect on the climate, compared to many other factors, from volcanoes to clouds. These climate scientists likewise debunk the mathematical models that have been used to hype global warming hysteria, even though hard evidence stretching back over centuries contradicts these models.
